Finally I implemented successfully what others have done months ago: footwell lights.
In fact there's not many things to say as the procedure has been thoroughly explained numerous times.
I bought the 5ND 947 415 set from Aliexpress and changed the bulbs to LED. Each bulb had 8 SMDs of the 5730 type with 5000K temperature. This way I avoided the yellow halogen light, I matched the rest of the LED lighting in the car and last I had enough light from the 8 SMDs to experiment with the light intensity.
For the installation procedure I found extremely helpful this video on how to remove the hood release handle (it is from Mk6 but it is the same for Mk7), this tutorial on how to access the BCM (J519), these photographic instructions on how to route the cable and the BCM pin diagram.
Footwell lights VCDS coding
1. Click [09-CENT. ELECT.]
2. Select [07-Long Coding]
3. Go to Byte 5 and tick Bit 7
4. Go to Byte 17 and tick Bit 3
5. Click [SECURITY ACCESS-16]
6. Enter code: 31347
7. Click [ADAPTATION-10]
8. For my version of BCM it was enough to do the following changes:
(1)-Leuchte30FR LC72-Lasttyp 30 ----> 36 — LED Kleinleistung (for LED bulbs)
(3)-Leuchte30FR LC72-Fehlerort mittleres Byte DTC-DFCC 30 ----> 02
(4)-Leuchte30FR LC72-Lichtfunktion A 30 ----> footwell light
(6)-Leuchte30FR LC72-Dimmwert AB 30 ----> 100 (setting the highest brightness level when doors are open)
(7)-Leuchte30FR LC72-Lichtansteuerung HD AB 30 ----> always
(1)-Ambient lighting-Defaultwert Ambienteprofil Fussraum ----> 10 (setting the brightness level when doors are closed)
The channel (8)-Interior light; light configuration-Fussraumbeleuchtung ----> Installed was not necessary to set for my car but was necessary to set to a friend's car with different BCM.
Everything was succesful and lights flooded the interior
Playing with various light intensities I found out the relationship between the RLFS sensor and footwell: during daylight when the doors are closed footwells do not shine even if you set them to 100%. The footwells were coming with the door closed only when it was dark outside. The RLFS sensor has no effect to the footwells when the doors are opened. In this case they bulbs shine at 100%. Finally I found that my personal preference is to have the roof lights switched off and the footwells to be shining at 10% while driving…but then one thing was wrong and for the life of me I couldn't understand…When setting the slider on the infotainment menu at 10% while driving (doors closed) if I switched off the engine for some time the percentage of the slider was at 60% and not 10%.
After long and detailed searching on various forums I discovered that the 60% issue was present to other people with Discover Pro devices and that there was a TPI for its solution:

It was clear that the infotainment device could not store the value and thus it was always returning to 60%.
Now the questions were two: 1) What is the number of the TPI? and 2) Is the TPI about Discover Pro only?
The solution was given by this post from vw-golfclub.ru forum: the TPI is 2033489 they offered this screenshot which clearly states that Composition Media 5G0 035 819 with software 0170 have to be upgraded to 5G0 035 819 A with software 0421
I was so happy to know that my dealer could fix the problem. Now I had to plan a visit there…(See what happened)
