Drive
What is Drive?
Drive essentially measures your car’s overall popularity. It’s automatically calculated based on several parameters including: update frequency, logbook popularity, your number of subscribers, and the frequency of your visits, among others.
How do I gain Drive?
Cars with high levels of Drive usually belong to users who put a lot of effort into their descriptions, regularly write useful and interesting articles about their personal experiences, and attract new visitors and followers. Well-written blog posts and logbook records can be rapidly shared through the recommendation system. So, bottom line: make your page interesting, and you’ll get tons of Drive.
How are cars with the same drive index ranked?
By the number of registered user visits over the last 24 hours. More visitors will translate to a higher rating.
How do I promote my car?
1) Comment often and well. Other users notice the authors of thoughtful comments and may even stop by your profile.
2) Be sure to try our Promotion. It’s not free, but it can save you time and effort.
Do paid services help me gain Drive?
They do, but not directly. Paid services help you gain Drive organically: the more people who see your car, the more visitors you get, and, therefore, the more feedback you will receive.
Why am I gaining Drive so slowly?
Getting to the next level of Drive gets more and more difficult with each new level that you achieve. Only the best and most engaging cars have close to the maximum Drive level.
Where do I see my drive index progress?
You need to click on the drive index itself and you’ll be able to see a progress bar: it will show the current level achieved, how far to the next level and if there are more levels ahead.
Can Drive diminish?
Our system is built in a way that prevents other users from malevolently affecting your Drive level through their actions or unfair negative feedback. However, the formula we use to calculate Drive level takes into account many factors and is very complex, so your Drive level can diminish if one or more of the parameters gets low. 1 or 2 point fluctuations are quite normal. There are, nonetheless, some situations when your Drive level can drop significantly. For example when:
- people unfollow your car;
- you stop writing in your Logbook;
- one or more of your Logbook Records gets blocked due to a Guidelines violation;
- moderators block bot-accounts following your car;
- unfair rating boost practices are uncovered (spam, scripted comments, mass-following, or similar actions);
- one or more followers deleted their accounts or were banned.

Car of the Day Selection
How do you choose candidates for the Car of the Day Selection?
When today’s winner is announced (which happens at GMT +4 time-zone), the system picks a group of candidates among all the cars that meet the following criteria:
- it’s been in our database for some time;
- its Logbook has quality and ‘fresh’ records;
- it has appealing photos;
- its owner is frequently online;
- plus other criteria.
Then, 9 cars are selected randomly while the 10th candidate is the winner of the Promo race.
Why has my car never been a candidate?
There are hundreds of thousands of cars in our community and that number increases every day. We can have only 365 Cars of the Day every year and, therefore, only 3650 candidates. The probability of being selected to participate is quite small and decreases as the number of cars in the community grows.
Is there a way for my car to participate in a selection without all this hustle?
You can try the Promo campaign. The car with the most visitors during a Promo period will participate in the selection.
Blogs and Logbooks
What’s the difference between a personal Blog and a Logbook?
The Logbook is used to record events related to each car while the personal Blog can be used for any and everything else.
What’s the ‘Like’ button for?
By pressing this button, you show an author appreciation for whatever they have posted and increase the post’s rating. Your nickname is shown in the list that appears when you click the number on the left of the button.
What about the ‘Recommend’ button?
This button posts a link to that record or blog post in your Follower’s Feeds. This action, however, does not affect ratings.
Communities
How to create a new community?
First of all, you should clearly have an idea of what will be the main concept behind the new community. Will it be dedicated to the specific make, model and car generation? Or maybe you are striving to unite all car enthusiasts in your area? Or your community will be revolving around a particular interest, such as low-riders, vinyl wrapping, old-timers or muscle cars? Remember, the name and the main idea should be clear and members should reflect that specifically.
Before your request is forwarded to the site moderators for approval, it should gather the necessary number of initial community members within a set amount of time. This will prove that the main idea has many supporters and the future of the community has the potential to expand.
Also, make sure that you communicate with the potential community member in advance. It will help during the registration process.
If you’re ready – let’s get started!
“Create New Community” button is still inactive for me. What’s wrong?
Sorry, but we have to set some boundaries. Currently, only experienced users will be able to create new communities. You must have a car in your profile for at least one full year and have at least 100 followers on your personal blog.
How many users do I need to gather up and what is time frame for it?
As of now, there must be 30 users per 7 days from the day of the initial request.
What if I will be unable to get that many people?
All requests that weren't able to gather the minimum number of community members within the set time frame will be automatically deleted (but you’re more than welcome to try again later).
What will be the moderators’ reasons for denying my request?
Requests may be denied by moderators for the following reasons:
- Request for a new community is incomplete or missing vital components;
- Community creator has nothing in common with the proposed idea (for example, the owner of an Audi is creating a community for BMW owners or a resident of Sunnyvale is creating a community for Washington);
- First group of community members is not relevant to the main theme (for example, geographical location or car’s make — model);
- Community is created solely for advertisement or commercial sales;
- Community’s main theme does not follow the Guidelines.
How to transfer my admin rights to a different community member?
You should contact the site moderator drivemod and provide the new community admin’s nickname. Also, this user should accept the new role.
Featured stories on the main page
Our editorial teams handpick the best blog posts and Logbook records to feature on the main page. There’s no way of telling whether a post or record will end up there or not beforehand. However, the following are the main criteria our editors use to choose a piece to feature.
Minimum requirements for consideration by our editors:
- Content must be original and written exclusively for DRIVE2.
- If it’s a Logbook or personal Blog record, it should be interesting and useful for a wide variety of people and not just for the owners of cars of the same make and model.
- Photos should be high quality with detailed captions and carefully placed alongside the text. The first featured photo is especially important.
The following points dramatically decrease chances of being featured:
- Written so poorly so as to be unreadable.
- An inappropriate title such as one that is inaccurate, too long, or is offensive.
- Bad text markup (too much bold/italic highlighting, lack of paragraphing, - excessive caps or special character usage).
- Inaccurate tagging.
- Incoherent, tasteless, or stolen photos or pictures.
- Self-promotional links/spam (like, ‘hit me up on Facebook/Instagram/Etc’).
- Off topic discussions (especially discussion about moderators, the site, or other users).
- A lack of photos or photos used only to get attention.
An entry that has been chosen as a feature can be there for just a few hours until it gets replaced by other entries
