FormerVolkswagen Golf GTE

For 4,5 years, almost 200.000km's. I loved almost every bit of it.

What I loved the most:
— Performance (300hp after chipping and ALL the torque)
— Luxury feel
— Potential for customization and upgrading with OEM parts. There are tons of Golf 7's on the road, but it's still relatively easy to make your car stand out and feel unique.

What I didn't like:
— It's a bit small in the back… with a family with small kids, it's a bit tight because of the battery in the rear.
— It had some minor and major issues along the way: tranmission had issues after 120.000km or so. The battery range was very limited.

I would definately get a GTE again if it was economically feasible, but probably I'll get a Passat Variant then because of the extra space in the rear.

Range of the Egolf isn't sufficient for daily driving :(

Just wondering how much do you commute on daily basis? E-Golf is expected to have something about 100-120 km, considering you not limit every acceleration and switch climate control ON.

Usually about 100km single trip. The roadster had a max of about 300 and that turned out to be challenging, I had to improvise in a lot of cases when I wasn't able to charge the car at work. And private use…limited to 120 km is just not enough. :(

Oh, well, EVs currently are not situated for long trips, probably except of newest Tesla S/X P100D with 500 km range.
In this case you really have to get back to ICE.

Btw, what are your impressions about EV, except of limited range?

EV's themselves are great. The power underneath your foot, the silence when driving. it's all great. The downsides (besides range) for me are:
— Cyclists and pedestrians don't hear you. This is bad when you're driving in the city or on a parking lot.
— People blocking the charge points with their regular cars are really annoying, and they just don't seem to understand EV's really need the charger
— The nice ones are expensive. THe other ones are pretty ugly ;-)

Haha you are right. Sometimes I see Russian cars on drive.net in wintertime, then our winters aren't that bad. Same goes for the roads ;)
