Today a small but very inconvenient issue was solved.
As you may probably remember from my previous post my driver side lock switch (E308 in terms of wiring diagrams) was not functioning properly since the MIB 2.5 retrofit

During my summer vacation I found time to dig and try to find a solution to this. I checked the "42-Door Elect, Driver" module in terms of Long Coding and Adaptation Channels. But nothing strange or unusual was found. I did the same with the BCM. Again nothing drew my attention.
These last days I turned for help to a knowledgeable and respected person from Australia (user DV52 from the vwwatercooled.com.au and forums.ross-tech.com)
To cut the long story short, DV52 suggested that the likely culprit might be the way that my BCM software manages the door locks. He told me that he thinks that the Byte 9 — Bit 6 has something to do with it. But Byte 9 was never touched since factory and its value is E4. Some European cars have this coded as A4 (like this German Golf). So I tried the value A4 (disabled Bit 6) drove the car for 5 minutes but my problem was again not solved (the auto lock function over 15 km/h was OK but the driver side lock switch was not functioning and was not lit in orange color.
As soon as I returned home I re-enabled Byte 9 — Bit 6 (reverted coding back to E4 from A4), performed "Basic settings" in Module 42, locked the car and went to have lunch. After lunch I had to use the car to drive around the city to meet some friends. To my surprise the E308 switch behaved as the user manual says!

It seems that the temporary changing of BCM coding and the subsequent action of performing "Basic Settings" in driver's control module solved the lock / unlock issue and restored the driver side lock switch function
Hope this is useful to somebody one day
