Small things (maps update, A/C disinfection & console wrap)

Not many things have happened since last post. Serious future installations are postponed due to summer laziness.
A quick report follows:

Wrapping of gear lever trim
Following the installation of Disocover Media MIB2.5 I changed some plastic trim from Dark Rhodhium to Paino black. But not all trim pices were changed. I had thoughts of changing the plastic console around the gear lever but then I thought of temporarily saving money to finance future retrofits. So I went the easy/cheap way and wrapped it.

Again I have to say that this is a temporary measure. When the appropriate time comes a new console will be installed

A/C ducts and evaporator disinfection
It has been 2 years since I last performed disinfection of evaporator and air ducts. For 2 years I was only changing cabin filter. This year I decided that I have to adopt more hygienic habits. Therefore I followed the well documented procedure here.

The fan (5Q0 907 521 D) was removed and the foam cleaner of ProTec (Product code 6122) was used for the evaporator.

The active ingredient of this foam (Alkybenzyldimethylammonium chloride) is the same as other commercial liquid cleaner (for home A/C units) found in hardware stores. The same ingredient is found also in Dettol household disinfectant. I chose to buy the expensive foam (8.83€) instead of the cheaper liquid disifectants (approximately 3.90€) as I believe it better sticks to the surface of evaporator for more time

For the air ducts I used another product from Wurth that uses isopropyl alcohol.

Finally the MANN FP 26 009 cabin filter replaced my dirty MAHLE CareMetix LAO888 filter. I have to say here that I still prefer the MAHLE over MANN but I could not find the MAHLE at a reasonable price

Update of maps

As I read VW updates its maps 2 times per year (around June and November). I was often checking the VW DiscoverCare software to see if any updates were available. Recently I found out a post in this forum that new maps were available in the official update page. The DiscoverCare software still doesn't show these updates though.

Nevertheless I downloaded the new European Countries – Bundle 7 maps and installed them on my SD card.
