This project has been waiting for a long long time… but I decided to have another go at it: Parsing EPS Datasets.
Analyzing a whole bunch of datasets, I've been able to find some structure inside, but… I have no idea what is what. So if there is anyone who has more information about what's in the data: please let me know!
Ultimate goal would be to be able to customize the power steering characteristics. I know people are installing datasets from other cars (like Octavia vRS) so they have a more sporty/direct feel to their steering wheels… would be nice if we could modify the data, enable different maps (some cars only offer comfort and sport, some also have race)…
I know there should be the following settings inside:
— speed versus responsiveness (because the steering gets less sensitive at higher speed)
— speed versus amount of counter pressure (because steering gets heavier at higher speed, lighter at lower speed)
— different maps for different driving modes (comfort, sport, race)
But other than that, I'm working completely in the dark.
