When I bought Arty I did not realise that the rear heated seats were an option. Retrospectively I realised I had missed a trick with regard to the winter pack and to make my better half happy I decided to research and collect parts in an attmept to make the reqtrofit as OE as possible.
First order was to source hardware. After having fallen over at what the dealer would charge for 4 pads and the rear climatronic panel I turned my search further afield and found what I was looking for on a certain eastern online marketplace:

I then researched wiring and bought what I needed to make the wiring as OE as possible and made up the missing parts of the looms required:

Onto stripping the rear seats which was simple enough but the headrest clips were definetly a little tricky so I took my time with those and I took measurement showing dimensions to the retaining clips:

Once the seats were removed from the car I snipped off the minimum amount of hog rings to gain suitable access to the base pads:

Next step was to fit the pads. This wasn't overly difficult although the pads were clearly not for a Passat B8 seat layout but with a little care I managed to get them all fitting quite well

Once the heated pads were fitted I had to fit replacement hog rings to reattach the covers to the base:

Once I had the seat covers back on I refitted the seats to the car and after several months of avoiding the wiring I finally decided to complete the task:

…and finally after coding in VCDS:
